Trinomial Site Number
The Texas Archaeological Research Lab at UT Austin has been given the task of curating information on archaeological sites in Texas. TARL has built a secure database of all recorded sites in Texas. TARL uses the trinomial site number system. This type of system uses a three section number.

The first two digits represent the state. Texas is the 41st state. Then a county abbreviation (see county abbreviation form), and finally the site number within that county.

example: 41ME1 = Texas, Medina Co., site #1
